Local Association Display Table
at the Bee College
The Honey
Bee Research and Extension Laboratory (HBREL) hosted a local club display table at the Bee College in the
back of the banquet hall so that each club could advertise
(their meetings, events, etc.), showcase pictures, and
distribute brochures, etc. This year there was an improved
version of the wonderful map of Florida showing where each bee
club is located, it was patterned after the Florida Map on the
Local Association page of the FSBA webpage.
Local clubs were urged to participate in this display
and take advantage of the opportunity to showcase your club.
Contact person was Elaine Suber [misselaineous@comcast.net] 614 Truett
Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32303, phone: 850-443-1055, who
coordinated your local association's display. It was requested
that your club representative, even if they were not attending the
Bee College, to send Elaine some materials to display ahead of
time. There was no need for any local members to tend to the
table, Elaine and Jeannette Klopchin handled the set-up. The
display was designed to be self-serve.

Thanks to the
Orange Blossom
Beekeepers Association doing an outstanding job of hosting
our 91st Annual Convention this year on
October 27-29, 2011. The event was held at the Orange County
Extension Offices located at 6021 S. Conway Road, Orlando,
Florida and thanks for making it a great, fun, successful
event for beekeepers across our state... so much talent in one
place and all eagerly sharing priceless information from years
of experience. It was great to see all the hard work and
planning by OBBA pay off with a great time of fellowship,
food, education, shopping with vendors, door prizes, handouts,
banquet, honey judging, awards, "Queen of the Sun" movie, and
celebration of bees and beekeepers... mixed of course with
necessary annual business. We commend and congratulate
them for a job well done.

Revised Constitution and Bylaws
A committee developed a
proposed revised constitution and bylaws for the Association
: See here the two documents for comparison:
The basic changes proposed included:
-
developing new membership
categories,
-
updating officer
descriptions
-
updating voting
procedures for officers at the annual convention.
